  • "In Puerto Rico, "Jìbaros" are a term used to refer to those who lived "inland", in the mountains & the heart of the island. Early Puerto Rico was a thick bosque with very little roads. It was easier to boat to a destination rather than travel across via land. This isolated the Jìbaros & helped develop their distinct identity. Though typically lacking in formal education & monetary riches, they made due with what they had, lived off the land, possessed innate wisdom, were very self-sufficient, brave and had much orgullo." - Artist, Lena del Sol Langaigne
